San Antonio, Texas (April 8, 2023)– After a defensive duel at Toyota Field, Republic FC add another point to its top of the Western Conference Table Standings and remain unbeaten in five league matches. The two clubs traded blows throughout the contest, but each backline stood tall to keep a clean sheet.
Sacramento nearly found the net in the 10th minute but was denied by a save from the opposing goalkeeper when Dami Viader took a strike from close range. The host’s Cristian Parano hit the woodwork at the 15-minute mark, before a big save from Danny Vitiello sent away a chance from San Antonio’s Kimarni Smith.
Sacramento did well to disrupt San Antonio’s physicality and direct play throughout the contest. Another strong outing for Conor Donovan, Shane Wiedt and Jared Timmer kept the hosts to just 3 shots on target of 15 total. The hosts completed just 51% of their passes on the night as the Quails couldn’t be broken down on defense.
Changes late saw Sacramento continue to push for a score, as Luther Archimède and Keko entered for the final ten minutes. The Indomitable Club was unable to break through despite pinning back their foes in the attacking third throughout the night.
Republic FC returns home to the Indomitable City for three straight home matches beginning on Saturday, April 15. Up first, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC makes its only visit to Heart Health Park on First Responder Night presented by Medic Ambulance. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m., and tickets are available at SacRepublicFC.com/tickets. The match will be broadcast live on Antenna TV 40.2, FOX40.com and the FOX40 News mobile app, and streaming on ESPN+.
