Sacramento, Calif – On Monday, USL Championship announced that Republic FC Midfielder Luis Felipe has been nominated for Fan’s Choice Goal of the Week. Voting is open now through 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 29 at USLChampionship.com, as well as on Twitter, Instagram Stories, and the USL App.
Luis Felipe’s set piece curler clinched the win against the 2022 USL Championship title holders. In the 89thminute – after Sebastian Herrera drew a foul on a speedy breakaway, Felipe put the game on ice with a stunner. From over 30 yards away, a left foot smash cleared the wall and sailed by San Antonio’s goalkeeper with no chance of stopping it.
This is Luis Felipe’s second nomination for Goal of the Week this season. In week six, a brilliant team goal helped the Indomitable Club cruise past Colorado Springs Switchbacks, 4-0.
