Sacramento, Calif. – Republic FC and Sacramento State announced today that they have extended their partnership, further connecting two organizations that are rooted in the development of the Sacramento region through education, innovation, and community. To celebrate the announcement, the club is now offering a ticket and scarf combo package for fans to show their Hornet pride as Republic FC hosts its 10th season celebration match on August 26 at Hughes Stadium.
“This partnership represents two transformational organizations coming together to help grow and support the region as a place where people from all backgrounds can come together to make a difference,” said Republic FC Chief Revenue Officer Dustin Vicari. “Sac State has been a pillar of our community for 75 years and we’re thrilled to continue to work alongside them as they step into a new chapter under President Luke Wood.”
Beginning today, Sac State students, alumni, faculty, and staff can purchase their ticket and scarf package here. Packages start at just $25 and include a co-branded scarf in Sac State’s signature green and gold colors, as well as a ticket to Republic FC’s home match on August 26. The scarf features an illustration of Sacramento’s downtown skyline, and on the opposite side: “Stingers Up,” the rallying call that has been adopted by the Sac State community over the years as a nod to the college’s hornet mascot.
The special August 26 match will be played at Hughes Stadium, the site of Republic FC’s first-ever home game. With 20,000 fans in attendance, the club will host its 10th Season Celebration as it takes on Orange County SC. Throughout the match, the club will look back on its storied history and highlight its many connections to the Sacramento community. The night will mark a special homecoming as well, as former Republic FC players from various seasons return to the pitch for a pre-game presentation. The partnership also includes a special Republic FC edition of the “Made at Sac State” series, featuring members of the club’s front office who earned their degree at Sac State. Through videos, graphics, and written content, these alumni will share their favorite college memories and reflect on how their experience at Sac State continues to influence them personally and professionally today. Since 2012, the award-winning series has celebrated the success and impact of notable alumni.
To support the next generation of leaders and young professionals, Republic FC has also begun introducing new internship opportunities for Sac State students providing them with hands-on experience in a professional sports environment in exchange for college credit. Through mentorship, networking, and real-life experience, interns will have the opportunity to develop applicable skills across various departments as they pursue a career in sports.
Republic FC returns to action this Saturday, visiting New Mexico United for the first time this season. Kickoff from Isotopes Park is set for 6:00 p.m. PT and the match will be broadcast live in English and Spanish on Antenna TV 40.2, FOX40.com, and the FOX40 News mobile app, as well as streaming on ESPN+.
