Today, Republic FC announced an extended partnership with Los Rios Community College District (The District) to continue sharing the club’s stories, while also showcasing the many opportunities provided by the region’s largest community college district. Los Rios will also play an integral role in Republic FC’s upcoming 10th Season Celebration Match when the club returns to the site of its first-ever home game – Hughes Stadium at Sacramento City College, The District’s oldest college.
“Since day one, our club has been committed to working with partners that are pillars of our community and for more than 50 years, Los Rios has delivered exceptional educational opportunities for over one million students,” said Republic FC President and General Manager Todd Dunivant. “The community college network has also been a big part of Republic FC’s history, working with the club to host the inaugural home game in 2014 and again this August for our big 10th season celebration, serving as host of our daily training operation out of Cosumnes River College, and with additional collaborations, like our podcast, we are looking forward to growing our partnership.”
“In a testament to our dedication to regional development and community inclusion, we proudly partner with Sacramento Republic FC as they embark on their momentous 10th season,” remarked Gabe Ross, Los Rios Chief Strategy and Communications Officer. “The synergy between our District and the soccer club is a great example of how collaboration can uplift both institutions and the entire region.”
In 2014, Republic FC burst onto the American soccer scene and ignited the city’s love affair with the game with a record-setting crowd of 20,000 fans in four-consecutive matches at Hughes Stadium. The club will once again return to the historic site on August 26 for a 10th Season Celebration match against Orange County SC. Throughout the night, the club will celebrate its proud history and connection to the Sacramento community, while also recognizing and thanking those that have made it all possible – from players and coaches to fans and partners. A special discounted ticket is available for Los Rios faculty, staff, students, and alumni is available for the match while supplies last. Los Rios will also continue to serve as the presenting partner for Republic FC’s podcast, The Breakaway, giving listeners an inside look at the club’s players, staff, and other key figures in the Sacramento community and beyond. Launched in 2020 during the pandemic, the podcast has grown to over 50,000 downloads, 800 subscribers, and has appeared on the top 100 list for soccer podcasts in the country. On the latest episode, host Connor Sutton sat down with Los Rios Chief Strategy and Communications Officer Gabe Ross and Sacramento City College Operations Supervisor Brenda Buckner to talk about the partnership and the excitement about the match at Hughes.
