With a balanced conference alignment for the second straight year, the league’s 24 teams will play each of their conference opponents twice – once at home, once away – and each team from the opposing conference once, with six interconference matches at home and six on the road. Last season was the first time since 2015 that every team in the league faced off under the two-conference format.
In 2023, Republic FC finished the campaign undefeated against Eastern Conference opponents, while Western Conference play resulted in a record of 12 wins, six losses, and four draws. Sacramento’s 2023 season included milestones including Mark Briggs’ 100th career win, the most goals in club history, the best record in the Western Conference, a berth in the Western Conference Final, and numerous league accolades for four returning players.
Notable home matches include NorCal rivals Oakland Roots SC on June 15 – Father’s Day weekend and the return of Republic FC’s Brewfest – and Monterey Bay F.C. on October 9. A Western Conference Final re-match is set for September 14, when Republic FC hosts reigning champions, Phoenix Rising FC. The California State Fair & Food Festival will be the backdrop as league newcomer North Carolina FC makes its first trip to the City of Trees on July 13, with all ticketed fans receiving complimentary entrance to the fair on matchday. Youth Soccer Day will return on Sunday, September 29, as Republic FC hosts New Mexico United for a matinee match following a pre-game parade featuring hundreds of youth soccer players from the region. The Western Conference will add two clubs: Memphis 901 FC and FC Tulsa, both of which were a part of the Eastern Conference last year. They’ll play at Heart Health Park on March 30 and April 13, respectively.
