Coming off of back-to-back wins on the road, the Boys in Old Glory Red now make their return home this Saturday to Heart Health Park to face eastern opponents, Pittsburgh Riverhounds for their fourth ever match-up.
The strength, growth, and endurance of Republic FC has been exemplified in the past few weeks. “In Oakland, to go there and score five goals, and then to go to Detroit and get a clean sheet in one of the most difficult environments in the league, and bring back three points, it brought some confidence back.” says gaffer Mark Briggs
Briggs continues, “The two weeks, the two results, and the trainings in between those two results have been back to the level of intensity that we need, and that we have to have.”
The Indomitable Club’s performance from the past two weeks has also solidified their strong form heading into the latter half of the 2024 season. “We’re on a good run of form with two wins in a row and a shut out last time we played at home. So now we just have to bring our good form from the road to home and give our fans what they deserve,” says Republic FC defender Conor Donovan.
“We’re excited. It’s been a long time since we were here in front of our fans, and we know Pittsburgh is a really tough team, but we just need to focus on moving the ball,” says Republic FC defender Damià Viader.
The Hounds are still looking for their first victory against Republic FC, following a loss in 2014 and draws in both the previous two seasons. “They’ll make it difficult for us. They’ll be aggressive, and they have qualities that can hurt you, like every other team in the league.” Briggs continues, “We have to make sure we’re tuned in, and that we understand their strengths and how to exploit their weaknesses.”
