Sacramento, Calif., – Republic FC will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a series of initiatives and experiences recognizing the culture, heritage, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. The month-long celebration also includes the club’s annual scholarship to support the next generation of leaders, limited-edition merchandise, a storytelling series focused on Republic FC players and community leaders, and a special Noche Latina match that brings together people of all backgrounds.
“Hispanic Heritage Month is a chance to celebrate the people, cultures and traditions that help make Sacramento such a vibrant community,” said Republic FC Vice President Scott Moak. “We’re proud to honor the contributions of our Hispanic and Latino neighbors.”
To mark the start of Hispanic Heritage Month, Republic FC and the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce are now accepting applications for the El Futuro Scholarship. This annual scholarship awards a $2,000 grant to a local student to support their academic journey.
“Our partnership with Sacramento Republic FC reflects a shared commitment to investing in the next generation,” said Cathy Rodriguez Aguirre, SACHCC President and CEO. “Through the El Futuro Scholarship, we are helping students pursue higher education and develop the knowledge, skills, and leadership that will strengthen Sacramento’s workforce and community for years to come.”
The winner will be treated to a VIP matchday experience and receive an on-field recognition at Republic FC’s match on October 10. Applications will close at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, September 30. For a complete list of requirements or to apply, visit SacRepublicFC.com/Scholarship.
Later this month, Republic FC will unveil a limited-edition Hispanic Heritage Month-themed merchandise collection. Designed by Republic FC’s Sr. Directive of Brand & Creative Sara Molina, and Graphic Designer Anthony Villalobos, the collection is inspired by the vibrant tradition and artistry of lucha libre and the famed luchadores. The unique typography incorporated into the merchandise pays tribute to the distinctive lettering often found on storefronts, tiendas, and local businesses throughout Mexican American communities, as well as several Hispanic and Latino-owned businesses in Sacramento.
To bring fans closer to the stories behind the players, the club will launch a special video series featuring players of Hispanic heritage. Through personal stories and conversations, the videos will give fans an opportunity to learn more about the players’ backgrounds, family roots, cultural influences, and the experiences that have shaped them both on and off the field.
October 10 marks Republic FC’s annual Noche Latina match, offering a variety of festivities designed to celebrate the culture and traditions of the region’s Hispanic communities. Fans can enjoy the Noche Latina Fiesta, a lively in-stadium experience featuring an artisan market, live music and dancing, Lowrider cars, photo opportunities, appearances from local Telemundo personalities, and more. Special ticket packages include a Familia 4 Pack starting $70 and a ticket + drink package for fans 21+.
