Forward Thomas Enevoldsen has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 27 after doubling his goal count with Republic FC in the club’s 3-0 win over Tacoma Defiance. This is Enevoldsen’s second TOTW honors in four matches with the Indomitable Club, having been named in Week 24 after a stellar debut that saw him strike twice against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.
Enevoldsen hit the back of the net twice against Tacoma, making it his second brace in his two matches played at Papa Murphy’s Park. The Danish striker opened up the score line in the 13th minute, slotting home a grounded cross put in by Jordan McCrary.
In stoppage time of the first half, Enevoldsen turned provider, setting up Cameron Iwasa for the Sacramento native to put his 13th goal on the season into the back of the net. Enevoldsen secured his brace in the 75th minute, slamming home a ball from Iwasa to put the match to bed. With his two goals against Tacoma, Enevoldsen now has four goals in as many matches with Republic FC.
The squad now head to Austin to take on Bold FC on Wednesday (5:30 pm kickoff), before returning home for Sunday’s match against Rio Grande Valley FC (2pm kickoff). Wednesday’s match will be broadcast on ESPN+, while Sunday’s match will be on KQCA My58, Estrella TV Sacramento, as well as on ESPN+.
