For two weeks, volunteers from Republic FC – with the help of the club’s indomitable partner Raley’s and KHTK 1140, have been delivering ready to eat meals, salads and soups to seniors who are isolated at home during the statewide stay at home order. Each bag provides enough ready-made items to provide food for five days.
In just two weeks, the club has delivered over 2,000 meals for seniors, thanks to nominations from fans and people throughout the community.
The indomitable spirit of the region includes exercising generosity for our neighbors. In addition to nominating over 800 seniors, our community has donated an additional $10,000 to help reach more people in their time of need. To nominate a senior or donate, visit Sacrepublicfc.com/Indomitable-Hands.
Through the club’s special Republic FC “Indomitable City” scarf, with 100% of the net proceeds to be used to immediately support the 42,000 food-insecure seniors in the region, the program has infused another $15,000 from club supporters in just 3 days. With the scarf in high-demand, fans can pre-order their scarf (before April 30) and support seniors in the community at the club's online team store - shop.sacrepublicfc.com. In addition to the scarf proceeds, Republic FC will also direct 15% of select online team store sales through April to Raley’s Food for Families in order to purchase more bags to be delivered.
Not only does the initiative provide meals to seniors during these difficult times, but it also encourages the entire community to check-in on relatives, friends and neighbors who might be having difficulty adjusting to isolation. During the week, club volunteers and partners are calling senior nominees, checking in and providing a friendly voice.
Front office executives, staff, players, and coaches are delivering the much- needed bags throughout the region daily. Follow their delivery journies and see the impact online with the hashtags #IndomitableHands and #ItTakesARepublic.
