SACRAMENTO, Calif. (August 11, 2018) — Sacramento Republic FC overcomes a first-minute goal against to defeat Rio Grande Valley FC 2-1 at home as Cameron Iwasa becomes the club’s all-time leading scorer.

The visitors opened the scoring just 30 seconds into the match. Aldo Quintanilla was able to play a through ball past the defense for Carlos Small. With Republic keeper Josh Cohen coming off his line, Small poked his shot past Cohen and into the corner of the net for the early lead.

Cohen had to make two acrobatic saves early on to keep Republic FC. Cohen stopped a dangerous counter attack in the 21st minute as he dove to get his hand on an attempt from Jose Enriquez.
