SACRAMENTO, Calif. (April 21, 2016) – Sacramento Republic FC launched the Glory Glory Sacramento Fund today at a press conference at College Track in Sacramento. Representatives from local nonprofits joined Republic FC during the announcement
The Glory Glory Sacramento Fund was created to celebrate and elevate nonprofits that share the same indomitable spirit as our region and provides individual grants up to $20,000 to Sacramento-region nonprofits that support education, health/wellness or youth leadership.
“The Glory, Glory Sacramento Fund will allow Republic FC to empower the people of our community,” said Republic FC Executive Vice President and Co-Founder Joe Wagoner. “The Fund will put real dollars into the hands of local nonprofits, helping those in need, and will help make the Sacramento region a better place to live, work and play.”
At least ten nonprofits will be selected to receive grants totaling approximately $150,000 in total funding. The fund and program will extend beyond solely a monetary donation but also activate Republic FC players, fans and partners. In addition to the monetary donation, each nonprofit selected to receive a grant will also receive:
- Participation at a Republic FC home match including on-site promotion, recognition and a call to action for fans or partners to match the club’s donation
- Pairing with a Republic FC player who will serve as a spokesperson, mentor or similar
- Tickets to a Republic FC home match that may be used as student incentives, volunteer appreciation gifts or fundraising, and;
- Featured content and promotion, including a video, on Republic FC’s website, social media and more to bring awareness to the nonprofit’s efforts and work in the community.
The Sacramento Region Community Foundation will serves as a partner both in the administration of the fund and input towards community needs. In keeping with our clubs own humble beginnings, applications are encouraged especially for those Sacramento region nonprofits that provide a big impact with minimal resources.
Republic FC will begin accepting applications for the Glory, Glory Sacramento Fund online today, Apr. 21. The deadline to submit completed grant applications is May 15, 2016.
Qualified nonprofits should be in good standing and currently registered as a 501(c)3 with the State of California, based in the four-county Sacramento region (Sacramento, Yolo, El Dorado and Placer), have operated for a minimum of two years and provide service that support heath/wellness, education or youth leadership.
Only nonprofits that fulfill all criteria and fully complete the application will be considered. A core component of the application is submission of a three-minute or less video telling the story or impact of the nonprofit applying for the grant. A complete list of grant recipients will be announced on June 1, 2016.
