Sacramento, Calif. – On Tuesday, the USL Championship announced Republic FC’s Carlos Saldaña was named to the Team of the Week Bench for Week 20 for his performance against Phoenix Rising FC on July 23.

Making his first appearance since June 18, Saldaña tallied a career-high seven saves, surpassing his previous mark of six logged against Rising FC last October. His performance earned Sacramento their sixth clean sheet in league play this season, and ninth across all competitions. The Vallejo, CA native came up big for Sacramento in critical situations all evening – most notably saving two attempts from close range in the 23rd minute and keeping another Phoenix shot out of the net with an all-out diving stop in the 59th.
This is Saldaña’s first selection to Team of the Week in the USL Championship. He is the 10th different Republic FC player to earn the honor this season.
Republic FC is back in action tomorrow when the club hosts the highly-anticipated U.S. Open Cup Semifinal match against Sporting Kansas City. Tickets to the match are sold out, and fans attending are encouraged to arrive early and use their ticket to enter the State Fair to avoid lines and parking changes. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and on the radio on SacTown Sports 1140.
