One of Republic FC’s very own is getting the chance to shine on the national stage. U.S. Soccer announced today that 14-year-old defender Patrick Collins has been selected to the U.S. U-15 Boys’ National Team for a Domestic Training Camp in Chula Vista, California on October 22-29.
This is Collins’ first selection to a National Team roster. Last year, he was invited to participate in U.S. Soccer’s U-14 Boys’ National Talent Identification camp and had the opportunity to be one of the first players to step on the pitch at the new, state-of-the-art Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Fayetteville, Georgia. He was also among a group of 13 players from Republic FC’s U-14 and U-15 teams to attend a U.S. Soccer Talent ID Center in September.
“We’re incredibly proud to see Patrick earn his first selection to the U-15 National Team,” said Republic FC Academy Director Eder Quintanilla. “This is a tremendous milestone for him and reflection of the hard work, and commitment, and passion he brings every day, and we’re excited to see him take this next step in his journey.”
Collins is in his second season with the Indomitable Club. After starting the year with the U-14 team, he was brought up an age group to play with the U-15s and helped the team book their tickets to the postseason after topping their group in the MLS NEXT Flex tournament, where they held opponents scoreless in every match. He has continued to play up an age level, this year featuring with the U-16 team.
Republic FC’s Academy continues to develop some of the top youth players in the nation. The region’s only youth-to-pro pathway since 2015, the club has elevated over 30 players to the professional ranks in domestic and global leagues, while over 80 have earned the opportunity to feature for National Team programs, and over 100 have signed to Division 1 college soccer programs.
