Sacramento Republic FC vs Real Monarchs SLC
Bonney Field
July 6, 2016
Sacramento Republic FC 2 | Real Monarchs SLC 3
Sacramento Republic FC Head Coach and Technical Director Paul Buckle:
(On the defeat)
“Any loss is hard to take. I think it’s a strange one because I never felt safe at 2-0. Two-nil up is a precarious scoreline. They had nothing to lose, I don’t think Dominik had a shot to save again. It was sort of a carbon copy of us. We missed chances, we got ourselves two goals in front and probably should have been more up again. And when a team like that has nothing to lose you have to be careful and we weren’t careful enough, we didn’t manage the game well enough at two nil.”
(On having the unbeaten streak broken)
“We have to look back at a really good run, a fantastic run by the players. We’ve been on a great form and it looked like it was going to continue but it just shows you in football, with 20 minutes to go, if you don’t really see the game out and be disciplined you can come unstuck and that’s what’s happened.”
(On Kip Colvey filling in for Emrah Klimenta )
“I think Kip Colvey showed his quality. I don’t think there was any blame to Kip tonight. He’s a class act. I think he showed his composure on the ball, I though he was excellent. Very similar to Emrah. It’s going to take some time to bed in because he’s new and he’s carrying an injury. Him and Harry Williams are carrying fractures in their hands, which is not ideal but I’m very pleased with Kip. That’s a positive for us because Emrah’s a big player for us that we’ve lost.”
