Republic FC enter the match following a 1-1 comeback tie with San Antonio FC on Saturday, August 6. Defender James Kiffe drew a penalty after being brought down in the box in stoppage time. Octavio Guzman then stepped up and converted the penalty to give Republic FC the late equalizer.
The goal was the first of the season for Guzman. The midfielder has excelled in the last two seasons as a penalty taker, converting all three of his chances over the last two seasons. Guzman also became the second player in Republic FC history to record 80 appearances in all competitions, joining Emrah Klimenta who has recorded 87 appearances as a member of Republic FC.

Republic FC will be without Kiffe for Saturday’s match as he received a one-match suspension for caution accumulation after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against San Antonio FC. This will be the first USL match that Kiffe has missed since June 27, 2015, a stretch of 33 consecutive USL matches.
Saint Louis FC come into the match on a three-match unbeaten streak. Most recently, Saint Louis FC battled Swope Park Rangers to a 1-1 draw on Aug. 3. Despite their three-match unbeaten streak, Saint Louis FC has won just one of their last seven matches.
