Know Your Club – Republic FC

Tuesday’s match presents The Quails with an opportunity to stay undefeated on the road in 2026. In its last league match on April 11, the Indomitable Club fought back from an early deficit to pick up a valuable road point in a 1-1 draw against Las Vegas Lights FC. Vegas struck first with a quick shot from distance, but SRFC kept its composure to equalize before the half. Mark-Anthony Kaye broke the Lights’ backline with a pass to Dominik Wanner on the left flank. Wanner’s cross reached Kyle Edwards in front of goal for a solid shot that deflected off the back of Kaye and into the back of the net.

Just days later, Neill Collins’ squad returned home to host Minnesota United FC in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 32. Republic FC put up a valiant effort and held its MLS opponent scoreless through 120 minutes, but ultimately MNUFC advanced after a 12-round penalty shootout.

“This is a big week for us. Of course we’re disappointed to exit the Open Cup, but I think we all can be proud that we gave everything, but didn’t quite get it across the finish line, but that should be fuel for us as we turn back to league play,” said Republic FC Head Coach Neill Collins. “Brooklyn is going to be a very difficult place for us to go, but this is a great opportunity for us. And then we’ll close out the week with the USL Cup. Last year we had a fantastic run and we want to go one better this year.”

Republic FC currently sits in a three-way tie for fourth in a tight Western Conference table, but a good result on Tuesday could give the club some separation from the pack. It would be a good way to kick off another busy two-match week.

On Saturday, The Boys in Old Glory Red return home to open group play in the Prinx Tires USL Cup against League One side Spokane Velocity. Republic FC reached the Final of the interleague competition last year, making them the first USL Championship team to reach the title match in three major competitions.

Know Your Opponent – Brooklyn FC

As can be expected with any expansion team, much of Brooklyn FC’s early season has been a story of finding its identity. They opened their debut season on a high with a 1-0 win over Indy Eleven, but from there went on to lose four straight matches with a -8 scoring differential.

In their last match, however, Brooklyn got a much-needed lift with an impressive 3-0 win over Eastern Conference powerhouse Charleston Battery. BKFC took the lead of the foot of Jaden Servania in the 9^th minute and never looked back. The assist came from Markus Anderson, who assisted the second goal of night in the 32^nd minute before finding the back of the net himself in the second half. The 22-year-old Philadelphia Union loanee was named the Week 6 Player of the Week for his breakout performance and comes in Tuesday’s match leading his team with two goals and two assists on the year.

After the mid-week contest with Republic FC, Brooklyn will enter into its first-ever Cup competition with an Empire State showdown against the New York Cosmos on Saturday.

Know Your Club – Republic FC

The Indomitable Club bounced back from its first loss of the 2026 campaign in emphatic fashion – closing out the week with six goals in two games. Back in front of its home crowd last weekend, Republic FC put together a complete performance to defeat Phoenix Rising FC by a score of 2-0.

The Quails cashed in on their aggressive press in the 10^th minute as homegrown midfielder Blake Willey netted his first career goal, assisted by Forster Ajago. The milestone was later voted as the USL Championship Goal of the Week and earned 18-year-old Willey a spot on the Team of the Week.

The lead doubled in the 24^th minute when Michel Benitez turned defense to offense, intercepting a pass near midfield and slotting a pass through to Dominik Wanner who found the back of the net for the first time this year. The goal marked Wanner’s fourth goal contribution of the week – just days earlier the German winger added a goal and two assists in Republic FC’s 4-0 Open Cup win over Valley 559. He now leads the tournament with three assists and was named to U.S. Soccer’s Team of the Round, alongside teammates Kyle Edwards and Lee Desmond, who added two goals / one assist and a goal, respectively.

In seven matches across all competitions, The Boys in Old Glory Red have kept five clean sheets and only allowed a total of three goals in 660 minutes played. Last week against Phoenix, Danny Vitiello recorded his 61^st regular season clean sheet. The USL Championship all-time shutouts leader is set to hit another historic moment. He’ll eclipse Cameron Iwasa to become Republic FC’s all-time minutes leader after he logs 33 minutes of match play.

Know Your Opponent – Las Vegas Lights FC

Last weekend, they nearly stole a point against Western Conference leader El Paso Locomotive. El Paso took an early lead in the seventh minute, only to be leveled by a 23^rd minute goal from Christian Pinzon. The Locomotive would score on either side of the halftime break, but the Lights responded back with a goal from Johnny Rodriguez in the 60^th minute. A slew of second half subs continued to fuel a late push to find an equalizer, but in the end LV was unable to pull even.

Pinzon and Rodriguez represent a core group of the team’s top 2025 contributors that have returned for the 2026 season. They are joined by midfielder Shawn Smart and forward Nighte Pickering, who, combined with Pinzon and Rodriguez, were responsible for 71% of Las Vegas’ goals a year ago. Rodriguez has opened the season in strong form and is currently on a three-game scoring streak.

For Republic FC fans, the Lights’ most notable offseason addition is Jared Mazzola. The goalkeeper made 12 appearances for the Indomitable Club in 2024-25 and helped anchor the team’s run to the 2025 USL Cup Final. In his first season with Lights, Mazzola has started all five of the Nevadan club’s matches.

Head-to-Head

Republic FC holds a 9-4-4 all-time record against Las Vegas. The squad will undoubtedly be looking to replicate last year’s head-to-head results. Including a USL Cup group stage match, the Indomitable Club went a perfect 3-0 against the Lights with an 11-0 scoring differential.

Know Your Club – Republic FC

The Quails come into Saturday’s Western Conference rivalry match with an opportunity to get back into the win column in regular season play. Last weekend, the club came away without a point for the first time in 2026 in a 2-1 loss to El Paso Locomotive. Michel Benitez tallied Republic FC’s lone goal of the night, a late penalty that nearly fueled a stoppage time comeback. The Indomitable Club continued to push for an equalizer and fired off five shots in target in stoppage time, but ultimately El Paso withstood the pressure to take all three points.

Luckily, Republic FC was able to quickly move on from Saturday’s result with a Tuesday night Open Cup match. On the road against UPSL side Valley 559 FC, The Boys in Old Glory Red put together an impressive 4-0 win. Kyle Edwards led the way with two goals and an assist – the second Open Cup brace for the club this year – while Dominik Wanner built on his First Round assist with two more plus a goal of his own against Valley 559.

Captain Lee Desmond put in another stellar two-way performance, netting the night’s opening goal before keeping the clean sheet with a fantastic goal-line clearance. The last to add his name to the scoresheet was newcomer Brandon Cambridge. Making his first start after signing a 25-day contract just this week, Cambridge recorded an assist, 10 duels won, and three chances created. Also making their club debuts were recent signing Sergio Rivas and academy players Luke Strassburg and Jackson Montero, who became the 18^th and 19^th players from the club’s youth academy to feature for the First Team in a competitive match.

Know Your Opponent – Phoenix Rising FC

After four weeks of play, Phoenix finds itself as one of two Western Conference teams without a win. But despite sitting on a 0-1-3 record, Rising FC has displayed a high level of resiliency early on. They come into Saturday’s match on a streak of two come-from-behind draws (2-2 vs. OAK, 1-1 vs. TUL). Last week against FC Tulsa, they pulled even in the 74^th minute, building a counterattack off a bad clearance. Ihsan Sacko’s cross reached the head of Juan Carvajal for his first goal of the season.

Phoenix also had a quick turnaround with a Wednesday night Open Cup match against Orange County SC. Rising FC took a first half lead off the foot of Gunnar Studenhofft before OC equalized late to send the game to extra time. The decisive moment came in the 96^th minute when Aleksandar Vukovic rose above the defense to head in a corner kick from Ihsan Sacko. Sacko has opened his second stint with the Arizona club in top form. After finishing second on the squad with seven goals and six assists in 2025, the French midfielder has added a goal contribution in the last four games (one goal, three assists).

Head-to-Head

This Western Conference matchup runs deep. The two clubs have faced off 28 times in USL play – making Phoenix Sacramento’s second most commonly-faced opponent. Rising FC holds the majority with nine wins to Sacramento’s eight, while the two have split the points 11 times. These matches have been fiercely competitive, with 23 games decided by a margin of one goal or less, including two 2-2 draws in 2025.

Know Your Club – Republic FC

Since its inaugural 2014 season, the Indomitable Club has never lost in its first Open Cup match, a tradition that carries on in 2026. Entering into the tournament in the First Round for the first time ever due to a new competition format, the Indomitable Club earned a 2-0 win over amateur side El Farolito for the second straight year on March 18.

Republic FC controlled play on both ends of the pitch, but couldn’t find the breakthrough until the added extra time. Forster Ajago headed in the opening goal in the 95^th minute, assisted by Dominik Wanner, before blocking a goalkeeper clearance for an insurance goal in the 102^nd.

The night also highlighted the club’s homegrown talent as Sacramento natives Blake Willey, Da’vian Kimbrough, and Chibi Ukaegbu all featured in the starting lineup. Later in the match, Rohan Chivukula became the 17^th academy player to play for the First Team in a competitive match as he helped close out the game as a 90^th minute substitute. Including Chivukula, five players have signed USL Academy contracts this year, providing a unique opportunity for them to train and compete with the First Team as well as academy matches.

An earlier-than-usual Open Cup entry has led to a busy early-season schedule. The team now heads into its second stretch of three games in eight days over the last month. Add in international call-ups for Mayele Malango and Da’vian Kimbrough, as well as Second Round suspension for Mark-Anthony Kaye, Head Coach Neill Collins will need to rely on the depth of his roster to get through the week.

To help prepare for this stretch, the club has brought in reinforcements. Forward Brandon Cambridge and midfielder Sergio Rivas have signed 25-day contracts and will both be available for selection on Tuesday.

Know Your Opponent – Valley 559 FC

Fresno-based Valley 559 FC heads into Tuesday’s match after securing its first-ever Open Cup win in a First Round upset over USL League One side AV Alta earlier this month. Despite having only 31% of the possession, Valley 559 took advantage of its opportunities, putting an impressive seven shots on target. The decisive moment came in the 65^th minute. A long clearance reached former Sac State Hornet Michael Gonzalez for a big cross from the right. On the back post, Quincy Amarikwa – a UC Davis graduate and former MLS player – dove in for the header and punched Valley’s ticket to the next round.

Despite entering this year’s tournament in the amateur division, 559’s roster features experienced players from across the American soccer landscape. Defender Elijah Martin has nearly 150 USL appearances to his name, while captain Jose Carrera-Garcia’s resume includes stints with Forward Madison, CV Fuego, Chattanooga, and LV Lights, as well as two years in Mexico with Celaya.

The UPSL side is led by Head Coach Milton Blanco, who began his coaching journey after a 17-year career in USL and MLS. A Fresno native, Blanco has been an important figure in the growth of soccer in the Central Valley. In 2022 he joined Central Valley Fuego’s technical staff under current Republic FC Assistant Coach Martín Vásquez before taking over as Head Coach after Vásquez’s departure in 2023. That year, Blanco led Fuego to an impressive 4-1 Open Cup upset over El Paso Locomotive before suffering a Third Round defeat against a Republic FC side that was on its way to a historic Cup run.

Know Your Club – Republic FC

The Indomitable Club’s undefeated streak continues into its Week 4 matchup against Western Conference foe El Paso Locomotive FC. Last weekend, Neill Collins’ squad closed out a stretch of three games in eight days – including a 120-minute midweek Open Cup matchup and a home draw against regional rival Monterey Bay FC.

Republic FC held the edge up and down the stat sheet and Forster Ajago found the breakthrough with his third goal of the week. The Ghanaian forward out-jumped two defenders to head the ball to Arturo Rodriguez, who skillfully split the defense with a one-touch volley back to an in-stride Ajago for a nutmeg on the keeper into the back of the net.

A stout defensive showing held Monterey Bay FC without any chances until the 84^th minute, but one play was enough to bring the game level, the first goal allowed by Republic FC in four matches in 2026. A late penalty gave the visitors an opportunity to come away with their first victory of the year, but Republic FC Danny Vitiello – the league’s all-time regular season clean sheets leader – made no doubt about it as he blocked the shot to split the points.

Now the squad prepares for another three-game week. After Saturday’s contest, they’ll make the drive to Fresno to play Valley 559 in the Second Round of the Open Cup before returning to Heart Health Park to face off with Phoenix Rising FC on April 4.

Know Your Opponent – El Paso Locomotive FC

El Paso comes into Saturday after a Week 3 bye. They are also undefeated with one win and one draw in league play, as well as an Open Cup victory over Laredo Heat. The Locomotive have maintained key parts the 2025 roster that earned a home playoff match and set a new club record with 62 regular season goals. Mix in the addition of General Manager Mike DiGiulio and Head Coach Junior Gonzalez, the team is off to a strong start.

After opening the campaign with a draw against Colorado Springs, El Paso earned an emphatic 3-0 win over Monterey Bay FC in Week 2. Alex Mendez and Rubio Rubin each recorded a goal and an assist, while Amando Moreno nabbed his first goal of the season.

Rubin has come out of the gates hot with four goals in three games (all competitions). In Week 1, he became the first Locomotive player to record a brace in a season opener, earning him Player of the Week honors. The Guatemalan striker recorded four goals and three assists for Charleston in 2025 and brings experience from some of the world’s top professional leagues including Liga MX and MLS, as well as international caps for the Guatemalan National Team.

Head-to-Head

The all-time head-to-head between these two Western Conference tips in El Paso’s favor with seven wins to Sacramento’s five. But after the Locomotive opened the series with four consecutive wins between 2019 and 2021, Republic FC has begun to turn the tides, winning five of the last eight including the last four matches at Heart Health Park.

Know Your Opponent – Republic FC

Republic FC returns to action with a chance to climb up the league table with another match at home. It’s been a busy week for The Boys in Old Glory Red. After picking up a hard-earned point on the road against Lexington SC last weekend, The Quails took their first step forward in Open Cup play with a 2-0 win over El Farolito in the First Round on Wednesday night.

From the first whistle, it was a rough match up with 37 fouls. Ultimately Republic FC came out triumphant as Forster Ajago netted two goals in added extra time, his first brace since 2024. The confident victory was a result of Sacramento’s continued pressure throughout the night, which was a similar story to the Opening Night win against FC Tulsa.

“When Kyle [Edwards] got his goal in the first game, it was because Forster [Ajago] wore the defense down for so many minutes. And then tonight, it was the opposite – Kyle does a lot of the leg work and then Forster gets on and makes them pay,” said Republic FC Head Coach Neill Collins.

The club’s youth development pipeline was a highlight with three homegrown players in the starting lineup – Blake Willey, Chibi Ukaegbu, and Da’vian Kimbrough. The trio’s special night marked the first time since 2020 that three players from Republic FC’s academy started in the same match. Later in the night, defender Rohan Chivukula became the 17th academy player to feature for the first team in a competitive match.

Now as Republic FC waits to learn its opponent for the next round of Cup play, the focus turns back to the regular season. The club will be in front of its home crowd for the next three weeks, providing a nice opportunity to continue to build chemistry and find rhythm early in the season.

Know Your Opponent – Monterey Bay FC

Regional rivals Monterey Bay FC are coming into Saturday’s match on rested legs after missing out on qualifying for this year’s Open Cup. By many measures, the Crisp-and-Kelp have had a disappointing start to the 2026 season with two consecutive losses and no goals, but with a large influx of new talent – including a Starting XI of all new signings on Opening Night – some early growing pains are to be expected.

Last weekend, Monterey Bay played to a tough 3-0 loss on home turf against El Paso Locomotive. A free kick took a weird bounce to give El Paso the lead in the 21^st minute before putting the game away with two more goals in two minutes early in the second half.

But despite the scoreline, the match saw a strong debut for Sebastian Lletget who gave fans a preview of the impact he can have on the pitch. In just 16 minutes of action, the USMNT and MLS veteran looked dangerous and created three scoring opportunities. Soccer fans across the country will be eager to see how he settles into his new team as the season progresses.

Head-to-Head

Separated by just 180 miles, Republic FC and Monterey Bay have frequently faced off since the Seaside club joined USL in 2022. Sacramento has claimed five wins to Monterey Bay’s three, while the points have split just once. The scorelines have been close as well, with all but one match decided by 1 goal or less.

Saturday’s match marks the Indomitable Club’s first chance to pick up points and defend its title in the “Hella Cup,” an annual in-season NorCal tournament launched by the supporters’ groups representing Republic FC, Monterey Bay FC, and Oakland Roots.

To avoid overlap with the World Cup, the 111th edition of the Open Cup features a condensed format with 80 teams and one fewer round than recent years. The Indomitable Club returns to America’s National Soccer Championship earlier than usual, but just as hungry. The Quails qualified for this year’s competition as one of the top finishers in USL Championship last year.

Republic FC has advanced from its opening tournament game every year and has made Heart Health Park one of the most daunting Open Cup venues for opponents, amassing 20 home wins since 2014.

Despite this year’s new-look roster, the squad still brings extensive Open Cup experience. Danny Vitiello, Lee Desmond, and Jack Gurr represent the Republic FC team that made the historic run to the tournament Final in 2022, while Ryan Spaulding, Mark-Anthony Kaye, and Memo Rodriguez all made Open Cup appearances with their former MLS clubs. In 2018, Memo added three goals and one assist to help the Dynamo claim their first Open Cup title.

Following last weekend’s trip to Lexington and another big home match against Monterey Bay FC on Saturday, Head Coach Neill Collins will need to rely on the full depth of his squad to get through this week. “I think on Wednesday, we just want to carry on where we left off against Tulsa [in Week 1],” said Collins. “Be aggressive, get our fans on their feet, and make it difficult for every opponent that comes into Heart Health Park.”

Know Your Opponent – El Farolito

San Francisco-based El Farolito is back in the Open Cup hopeful for another year of Cup Magic. Known affectionately as “The Burrito Boys,” the club has made a name for itself in the last two Open Cups, upsetting four professional teams along the way. As the last-standing amateur team in 2025, they were named the first-ever winners of the John Motta Trophy, guaranteeing a spot in this year’s competition.

But it’s not just the Open Cup where El Farolito has found success. They’ve also risen to be a powerhouse in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). Since 2007, The Burrito Boys have claimed seven conference titles and reached the NPSL National Championship game, claiming the league’s biggest title in 2024.

Head-to-Head

These two Open Cup fan favorites met for the first time just last year for a Third Round matchup at Heart Health Park. It was a hard-fought contest that resulted in 13 yellow cards, but ultimately Sebastian Herrera’s 29^th minute header was enough to make the difference and punch Republic FC’s ticket to the Round of 32.

It’s a new year and a new opportunity for the Indomitable Club to chase Championship silverware. After finishing second in the Western Conference and reaching the final of the USL Cup, Republic FC is hungry for more in 2026 and has built a new squad ready for the challenge.

Leading the returners is the core of last year’s Western Conference-leading backline, including three-time Goalkeeper of the Year finalist Danny Vitiello and Captain Lee Desmond, as well as winger Jack Gurr and 2025 newcomers Freddy Kleemann and Michel Benitez. Homegrown midfielder Blake Willey is ready to take his performance to the next level after a breakout sophomore season, while Dominik Wanner and Ryan Spaulding return to build on a strong debut year in Sacramento.

It was a busy offseason for Head Coach Neill Collins and the technical staff. Eleven new players were brought in to create a new identity and style of play. The front line features three new names – Forster Ajago, Mayele Malango, and Kyle Edwards, who all led their previous teams in scoring last year.

In the midfield, league veterans Danny Crisostomo and Arturo Rodriguez are set to make their club debuts on Saturday. Across their USL careers, the duo has combined for nearly 300 appearances, 26 goals, and 32 assists, as well as 60 chances created in 2025 alone.

They’re joined by Mark-Anthony Kaye and Memo Rodriguez who are returning to the league after several successful seasons in MLS. Their accolades include an All-Star Selection, a Supporters’ Shield, U.S. Open Cup title, and nearly 300 total appearances combined.

And now the revamped squad faces its first test on Saturday, taking on the reigning Western Conference Champions. It’s a challenge that the Indomitable Club has historically embraced, an opportunity to start the season on a positive note. Heading into the weekend, the team has not lost a season opener since 2015 and is undefeated when kicking off the season at home. And if tradition carries on, a club newcomer is set to make a splash in his debut this weekend. SRFC debutants have scored in each of the last six season openers, with a Republic FC player claiming the Week 1 Player of the Week in the last two years.

Know Your Opponent – FC Tulsa

FC Tulsa returns to action looking to continue the success it found in 2025. Under Head Coach Luke Spencer, the Scissortails put together a historic campaign with a club record 57 points and their first-ever trip to the USL Championship Final.

The Oklahoma club maintained the majority of its roster, but will now have to build on last year’s breakout campaign without some of its key players. Striker Taylor Calheira – who ranked 2^nd in USL with 17 goals and earned an All-League First Team selection – was transferred to Sporting Kansas City for a club record transfer fee. On the backline, goalkeeper Johan Peñaranda, who posted eight clean sheets in 2025, will now sit between the sticks for Lexington, while centerback Arthur Rogers made the move to Miami, taking a key piece of Tulsa’s attack from a season ago.

The returners are led by All-League selection Lamar Batista and midfielder Stefan Lukic who notched seven goals in 2025, and put in a stellar postseason performance highlighted by two extra-time game-winners to propel Tulsa to the title match.

Meanwhile, there has been a steady influx of new talent to fill out the roster, including two-time all-league selection Bruna Lapa and forward Nelson Pierre, who will look to replicate Taylor Calheira’s success in his move from MLS NEXT Pro to USL Championship. In goal, Alex Tambakis is set to debut for his new team. He is currently tied with Republic FC’s Danny Vitiello for the league’s all-time record in clean sheets.

With a slew of new players and a core group of returners from its historic 2025 campaign, Tulsa will be looking to prove early on that last year’s success wasn’t a fluke.

Head-to-Head

Republic FC should have a bit of extra motivation heading into Saturday’s match. Last year, FC Tulsa was the only team to defeat Sacramento twice during the regular season. Prior to that, however, the series was all Republic – with the Quails going undefeated in its first 14 head-to-heads against Tulsa.

The Indomitable Club prepares its 11th appearance in the playoffs, once again finishing near the top of the Western Conference.

After opening the campaign with a come-from-behind win over New Mexico United, Republic FC found itself battling early injuries and an expected adjustment period under New Head Coach Neill Collins. And then it all came together, beginning with a 2-0 road win over Rhode Island on June 21. From there, the Indomitable Club went on seven game undefeated streak to climb its way up the table, all while balancing a run to the USL Cup Final.

Now, Republic FC enters the postseason with the No. 2 seed in the West, a three-place improvement from last year. The club’s defensive line, anchored by Danny Vitiello, was the best in the Western Conference, while the attack was fueled by contributions from Russell Cicerone, Khori Bennett, and Cristian Parano.

“We’re as well prepared as we probably ever could be,” said Head Coach Neill Collin’s. “Everything that we’ve been through this season, from the injuries to the knockout experience of the Cup – we’ve overcome a lot, and we should be ready for the playoffs.”

Republic FC’s roster features several players with playoff experience. Team Captain Rodrigo Lopez – who will retire at the end of the season – has recorded four goals and nine assists in the postseason, including his historic “Miracle at Bonney” hat trick that sent Sacramento to the Final in 2014. The veteran midfielder is among a group of seven players that have helped the club reach the postseason each year since 2022. Add in the playoff career of Russell Cicerone (4 goals), Cristian Parano (2022 Champion), and Head Coach Neill Collins – who led Tampa Bay to three consecutive Eastern Conference Finals – the Indomitable Club is prepared for the spotlight of knockout soccer.

How They Got Here: Orange County SC

Orange County returns to the playoffs after a steady end to the season, closing the year unbeaten in their last five matches and winning two of their final three. The late surge lifted OCSC to seventh place in the Western Conference, edging above the playoff line by just two points.

Goalkeeper Colin Shutler played a pivotal role, recording seven clean sheets this season, including three in the final month. At the other end of the pitch, Ethan Zubak leads the line. The clinical forward who spent four years in the MLS finished as OCSC’s top scorer for his squad scoring 11 goals from just 20 shots on target.

The Southern California side’s regular season record finishes at 10 wins, 9 draws, and 11 losses, and a goal differential of –1. Despite this record, Orange County will be coming into the post–season with confidence and momentum after grinding out results when it mattered most. Their strong finish and defensive stability down the stretch have positioned them well coming into the first round of the playoffs.

Head-to-Head

Sacramento Republic FC and Orange County SC have met 29 times in regular season play, with Sacramento holding the edge in the all-time series winning 13 times, 9 of which were at Heart Health Park. The two sides have not met in postseason play since 2016 when Orange County advanced on penalty kicks after a tightly contested match. Know Your Club – Republic FC

The Indomitable Club enters its regular season-finale in strong form after a commanding 1-0 win over Eastern Conference powerhouse Charleston Battery. The result secured the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference and ensured home field advantage at least through the Semi–finals.

Against Charleston, Republic FC displayed its trademark discipline and composure, earning its 12^th clean sheet of the season against the league’s strongest offense. The backline stood tall, anchored by Danny Vitiello, who made three saves to equal the all-time USL championship season-record of 58. At the other end of the pitch, Khori Bennett provided the difference maker by putting away a header from Lee Desmond to record his fifth goal of the season.

This weekend’s fixture provides one final test before postseason play and a moment for reflection as the club celebrates one of its all-time greats. Republic FC will honor longtime captain Rodrigo “RoRo” Lopez, who announced earlier this week his decision to retire at the end of the 2025 season. A foundational figure in the club’s history and its first signing, Lopez has been the heartbeat of the Indomitable Club since its inaugural season. Know Your Opponent – Miami FC

Miami FC closes its season with a visit to Heart Health Park. While the 2025 campaign has presented its challenges, the Florida side is in competitive form showing notable improvement in recent weeks. Under head coach Gaston Maddoni, Miami has found some rhythm and confidence. They’ve won two of their last three matches, beating teams above them on the table. Their late season run shows a team still fighting for pride, determined to close the year with momentum to build.

A major bright spot for Miami has been the emergence of Francisco Bonfiglio, who has delivered an impressive debut season. The Argentine striker has quickly become one of Miami FC’s most reliable attacking options showing creativity and technical ability in the final third. Having developed through the academies of Villareal in Spain and San Lorenzo in Argentina, Bonfiglio has a refined attacking presence and high football IQ making him a dangerous threat. His instinct for finding space and finishing his chances has translated to 14 goals this season, half of Miami’s total offensive output, also leading the league in shots taken.

Despite being out of playoff contention, the Sunshine State side continues to show resilience taking each match as an opportunity to prove their quality and set themselves up for the future. The club’s recent performances show that they remain on a confident side and look to finish their season with a statement of performance.

Head-to-Head

Republic FC and Miami have met just twice, with Sacramento winning both times. This is the first meeting between the sides in 2025. The Indomitable Club earned a hard-fought victory at home in 2023 before following it up with a 1-0 away at the Pitbull Stadium.
