The Republic FC Academy U-15, U-16/17 and U-18/19 teams will be facing their last league matches of 2017 when they travel to Southern California to take on their LA Galaxy Academy counterparts this Saturday, before facing FC Golden State on Sunday.
The U-13s and U-14s will also have their last matches of the year as they head west to face EBU Bay Oaks and Marin FC Alliance. This is the last matchday weekend ahead of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase and overall academy winter break.
The Republic FC U-15s enter their weekend matches with a lot of work to do before the break in order to get back on track towards a playoff spot. Currently, the U-15s sit in ninth place on the Northwest Division standings with 11 matches played and a record of 2-8-1.
Their LA Galaxy counterparts will be a tough test, as they sit on the opposite side of the coin, leading the Southwest Division and currently undefeated in the 2016-2017 season with a record of 10-0-1. The FC Golden State U-15s will also be another difficult opponent for the Republic FC U-15s, as FC Golden State sit in second place behind LA Galaxy in the Southwest Division. They hold a record of 9-2-0.
For the Republic FC U-16/17s, Saturday’s match will be another opportunity to take three points against an MLS Academy team. Earlier this season, the Republic FC U-16/17s defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-15s and the San Jose Earthquakes U-15s, currently sitting second behind Seattle Sounders FC U-15 on the Northwest Division standings. The Republic FC U-16/17s hold a 9-2-1 record.
Their LA Galaxy counterparts are currently in fifth place in the Southwest Division. The Galaxy U-16/17s enter the match with a record of 4-3-3 and a four-match winless streak, having most recently lost to Santa Cruz Breakers Academy 2-0.
FC Golden State U-16/17s on the other hand sit third in the Southwest Division with a record of 6-2-2. In their last match, FC Golden State took a 4-1 win over De Anza Force and are on a five-match undefeated streak, curiously with their last loss being LA Galaxy U-16/17s’ last win on Sept. 30.
The Republic FC U-18/19s travel to StubHub Center Field 5 off a bye week, with their last match on Nov. 4 ending in a 1-1 draw against San Jose Earthquakes U-18/19, and the previous one a 2-0 loss to Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-18/19. The team’s last win was on Oct. 21, when they took a 3-1 win over Crossfire Premier U-18/19. The Republic FC U-18/19s currently hold the fifth spot on the Northwest Division table with a 6-4-2 record, sitting in the last wildcard spot of the division.
Meanwhile, LA Galaxy U-18/19 are on a six-match undefeated streak, having tied four of their last six matches and taking wins against Silicon Valley Soccer Academy and De Anza Force. Of those four ties, two ended in eight plus combined goals scored. Their second opponent of the weekend, FC Golden State, sit third on the Southwest Division standings, one spot above LA Galaxy. FC Golden State U-18/19s come into the match off a 5-1 win over De Anza Force FC and holding a 4-2-3 record.
The U-14s and the U-13s will head to the Bay Area where they will first face EBU Bay Oaks on Saturday. On Sunday, they travel to Marin where they will take on their respective Marin FC Alliance teams. This will be the second meeting between Republic FC’s U-14 and U-13 teams and Marin FC Alliance. The teams met on Nov. 11 where the SRFC U-13s took a 3-0 win and the U-14s took a 9-0 win over Marin FC Alliance.
This match will be the last match until February 2018 for the U-13s and U-14s, both teams which participated in the Development Academy West Regional Showcase earlier this month. For their part, the U-15, U-16/17 and U-18/19 teams will be back in action for the USSDA Winter Showcase from Nov. 30-Dec. 11 in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
