Republic FC players will debut the Nike kits during their friendly match against MLS Newcomers LAFC on Sunday, Feb. 25.
The new home jersey features Republic FC’s primary color of Old Glory Red throughout the torso of the kit with white accents on the collar and side panel. Nike custom designed the fabric for the sleeves that features a watermark of the beveled star from the Republic FC crest; the star also represents Sacramento’s place on a map as the capital of California. The 3-D silicone and twill championship crest patch, a newly designed feature, adorns the left front of the jersey and is the same patch that is worn on the first team’s kits. UC Davis Health, the club’s official kit partner, is proudly displayed across the chest.
The hoops are back with the away jersey. The jersey features traditional grey and white horizontal hoops or stripes, a nod to the club’s inaugural third kit that debuted in 2015. The away jersey also features the newly designed crest patch, Old Glory Red accent color on the collar and side panel and kit partner UC Davis Health across the chest.
With ultra-light, sweat-wicking fabric for ventilated comfort on and off the pitch, the 2018 official kits combine Nike innovation with the indomitable spirit of Sacramento. Made with ultra-soft Dri-FIT fabric, the jersey delivers ultimate breathability, keeping you cool on and off the pitch. The shorts for the first team will include each player’s number on the right leg. The players will wear Old Glory Red Nike shorts with the home jersey and white shorts for the away jersey. With the exception of the USL patch on the right sleeve, the jerseys sold to fans are the same as those worn by the first team.
The photo essay was shot by Marc T. Kallweit at various locations throughout Sacramento including the American River Parkway, Roosevelt Park, midtown Sacramento and UC Davis Medical Center. Each photo accompanies a quote and short description of the individual featured in the photo essay.
