Saturday’s match will be the second and final meeting between the two sides in the 2018 regular season. Sacramento took three points from their road game in Orange County in March with Cameron Iwasa scoring the winner in the 1-0 victory. Republic FC leads the all-time series with Orange County 7-5-2 with a 24-13 advantage in goals. The visitors were previously OC Blues FC before rebranding as Orange County SC prior to the 2017 season. Sacramento holds a slight advantage since the change with a 2-1-0 record against and a 6-3 lead on goals.
Republic FC are looking to get back to winning ways after falling to the top team in the league, Real Monarchs SLC on Tuesday evening. Sacramento had their chances, including a penalty kick that was saved, but Chandler Hoffman scored the lone goal as Real Monarchs took the 1-0 win and all three points. Republic FC (6-3-3) sit in fourth place on the USL Western Conference table, while Real Monarchs moved four points clear of second place with a game in hand.
Orange County SC (6-3-2) sit just behind Sacramento on the table in fifth place with a game in hand. OC comes into the match after a convincing 3-0 home win over Fresno FC. Thomas Enevoldsen, Michael Seaton and Giovanni Godoy all tallied goals, with Enevoldsen and Aodhan Quinn providing assists. Enevoldsen made the bench unit for the USL Team of the Week for his performance against Fresno. Andre Rawls recorded his sixth clean sheet on Saturday, adding to his Western Conference-leading tally. Rawls has also recorded 34 saves, which puts him in fourth place in the entire USL. Republic FC’s Josh Cohen sits in second on the list with 37, two behind Tulsa’s Fabian Cerda. Orange County is led by Braeden Cloutier, a veteran of the German Bundesliga, MLS, as well as a successful indoor career.
