What’s the latest on the team?
Republic FC (3-2-2, 11 pts) are entering one of their busiest stretches of the season with Wednesday’s match marking their second of six games in a span of two weeks. The Indomitable Club will be looking to show that their 4-2 defeat on the road at the hands of Las Vegas Lights FC last weekend was an anomaly in what has otherwise been a consistently solid defense. Republic FC had only conceded five goals this season prior to their loss in Nevada, which was then tied for the second-best defensive record in the league. Despite the steep scoreline, there were a few positives for the team to take away from the match against Lights FC: midfielder Hayden Partain and forward Tyler Blackwood both notched their first goals of the season in the encounter.

How about the other guys?
Fresno FC (3-0-4, 13 pts) host Republic FC after rallying to a 4-2 victory over Real Monarchs SLC on the road last Saturday. The comeback win ensured the Foxes remain the lone undefeated side in the league heading into Wednesday’s rivalry match.
Fans might notice some familiar faces on the midweek broadcast, as Fresno FC currently counts on the services of two former Republic FC players: defender Mickey Daly and forward Christian Chaney. Daly was part of Sacramento’s championship-winning team in 2014, while Chaney, who is currently tied as Fresno’s lead scorer with three goals, featured for Republic FC during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. The Central Valley club is also led by head coach Adam Smith who previously served as head assistant coach at Republic FC for three seasons.
Head-to-Head
Saturday’s match will be the fourth-ever encounter between Sacramento and Fresno. Republic FC are currently lead the series against their regional rivals with a 2W-1L-0D record. Their last encounter was a 1-0 Republic FC win at home back in August 2018.
- Overall: 2-1-0
- Home: 1-0-0 (GF: 1, GA:0)
- Away: 1-1-0 (GF: 1, GA: 2)
Injury Report
Republic FC Head Coach Simon Elliott may not be able to count on a full squad for Wednesday’s match, as both Cameron Iwasa (right ankle) and Fresno native Villyan Bijev (right hamstring) are listed as questionable.
