Major League Soccer and EVERFI have created a platform to inspire enduring conversations and celebrate elements of Black history in America. The Black History Month Challenge is a fun and interactive way to examine pivotal moments in history and inspire critical conversations about social justice.
The 30-minute online courses that are open to all but designed for high-school students dive into topics such as Black business titans and Black contributions to medicine. The curated material highlights the exceptional spirit in the continued fight for equity.
Students have an opportunity to share what they’ve learned and win a share of a $20,000 scholarship fund. After completing the online course blocks, students ages 13-18 can complete a capstone essay sharing their own thoughts on what ways that can keep the conversation about Black history going throughout the year. In their short essay, students will be asked to propose a project or plan that uses information from the course to help their community.
All essays must be submitted by February 28, 2021 to be eligible to win.
