On this week’s episode of The Breakaway, Wilson Kneeshaw talks through some of his favorite parts of his playing days in Sacramento.
Kneeshaw recalls how he ended up playing in Sacramento after competing exclusively in Europe and the process of joining the Republic.
“I really didn’t know much about the Republic,” Kneeshaw said. “It was a two-week trial and after staying for six days and then the coach at the time said go home get your visa. We want you back out here as soon as possible.”

As much as Kneeshaw made an impact on the pitch, what some fans might remember him more for is his personality. The striker constantly was coming up with creative content ideas such as Weather with Wilson that came out every Wednesday playing to the fact that the sun is almost always in the forecast in the capital city.
“I don’t remember how it began, but we were in the preseason and we needed some content of some kind,” Kneeshaw says, “And someone just told me to talk about the weather, but California is always sunny so I didn’t know how long can I keep this up.”
The England native recalled the beginnings of the social media bit as well as his nickname the Arden Archer which sprung from his goal celebration that Kneeshaw says was inspired by playing FIFA.
Kneeshaw reminisced some of his favorite stories relating to his relationships with the fans as the thing he misses most about Sacramento and playing with Republic.
