One of the most meaningful matches over the weekend and one that has major implications in any European leagues’ title race is the Manchester Derby between Manchester City and Manchester United on Sunday.

First-place City host second-place United and a win for the Blues would lift Pep Guardiola’s side to 21 straight wins across all competitions. City sits 14 points above its local rival so a win would seemingly all but seal a Premier League title for the blue side of Manchester. Prior to Michail Antonio’s goal for West Ham United against City, the Blues had held its opponents scoreless for 18 and a half hours at The Etihad.

If United can claim all three points, the Reds will be trailing City by 11 points with 10 fixtures remaining.

Der Klassiker
Der Klassiker
The day before the Manchester Derby is one of Germany’s most glorious derbies – Der Klassiker.
On Saturday, table-toppers FC Bayern Munich host a Borussia Dortmund side in fifth place and three points outside of the top four. A win for Dortmund would lift the club into the final Champions League spot and would leave the side level on points with Eintracht Frankfurt on 42.

Der Klassiker isn’t like the Manchester Derby where it’s two clubs from the same city, rather, it’s often the clash between the two German giants competing for the Bundesliga title. In 2013, both juggernauts clashed in the Champions League final with the Bavarian club ultimately lifting the coveted trophy at Wembley Stadium.

Madrid Derby
Madrid Derby
Two of the top three clubs in Spain’s La Liga are set to go head-to-head this weekend when third-place Real Madrid pay a visit to an Atletico Madrid team that currently sits as the summit of the standings.
Atletico have a five-point lead at the top of the table while Los Blancos are currently level on points with Barcelona with 53. The last time these two clubs clashed ended with a 2-0 win for Real Madrid with Casemiro and a Jan Oblak own-goal ultimately proved to be the difference.

Serie A
Serie A
In Italy’s topflight, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus currently sit in third place and have a tough test at home this weekend when Lazio visits Turin from Rome. Lazio sits in seventh place so Saturday’s fixture for the Old Lady of Italy is no gimme, but a win would see Juve climb to within one point of second-place AC Milan.
But the matchup of the weekend in Serie A doesn’t kick off until Monday when first place Inter Milan take on Atalanta at the San Siro. Atalanta are currently in fourth place and level on points with Juventus and two points above the global powerhouse AS Roma.
