It may seem like a simple donation to many, but for the students and families in Robla School District, the toys and coats provided by Republic FC’s Winter Wishlist might be what makes the holiday season possible.
Ninety percent of the district’s families live at or below the federal poverty line, with 20% of the students unable to call a permanent address home. The staff and teachers in the district are not just educators, but often a lifeline and resource for daily life. “The reality is, these kids and families in the Robla School District really struggle,” said Republic FC Vice President of Community Investment Scott Moak. “They are often forgotten about and consistently left behind, and if it weren’t for the wonderful teachers and administrators in their school district, they would have next to nothing during this holiday season.”
The gratitude and appreciation were definitely felt last December when a team of volunteers from Republic FC and the community set out to hand-deliver holiday wishes across North Sacramento. Stop after stop, the volunteers were greeting by smiling children and handmade thank you signs, cards, and more.
And none of it would have been possible without the support of Republic FC fans and the Indomitable community. In just six hours, we stuffed an entire school bus with donations – and this year, we’re determined to do even better!
How Can I Donate?
1. Shop the Amazon Wishlist – purchase by Dec. 11
Interested in donating without having to leave your home? We’ve got you covered. While you are looking for online deals for your friends and family, select from a range of age-appropriate toys and coats ranging from $10 to $30. Donations will be shipped directly to the Republic FC office to be distributed before the holidays.
2. Drive-Thru Drop Off – Thursday Dec. 9 at CAL EXPO
Stop by Cal Expo’s main gate anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to drop off your donations! Stay in your car – we’ll have plenty of staff on hand to assist with everything. All donors will receive a voucher for a free ticket to a future Republic FC match!
