SACRAMENTO, CALIF. – Before Republic FC begins its 2022 USL Championship season, the club and founding partner, UC Davis Health, announced an extension to the nine-year partnership between the two organizations. Since the club’s founding, UC Davis Health has served as the team’s kit partner and provided the team with a host of medical services and an outstanding group of team doctors.
“Since day one, UC Davis Health has been a tremendous partner committed to improving the health, wellness, and vitality of our community,” said Republic FC President and General Manager Todd Dunivant. “We’ve accomplished a lot together these last nine years and look forward to what’s to come with the many new and continuing programs. I’d like to personally thank Dr. David Lubarsky, Brad Simmons, and Dr. Eric Giza for their exceptional support throughout our great partnership.”
“We are excited to continue our partnership with the Republic FC,” said Brad Simmons, Chief Administrator of the UC Davis Medical Center and Chief Operating Officer of the UC Davis Health Hospital Division. “Both of our organizations are committed to the region and to supporting the health and wellness of our community members. We look forward to another great season with the team and the indomitable fans.”
For the 2022 season, the partnership will grow with several new activations and community investment priorities. On the field, UC Davis Health will continue to be featured on Republic FC’s kits, but beyond the lines, Republic FC and UC Davis Health will work together to help raise awareness for specific health initiatives, as well as develop programming to support community health and wellness. UC Davis Health will also salute the indomitable support of Republic FC fans with gameday giveaways and more.
To help kick off the 2022 season, Republic FC fans at tomorrow’s home opener will receive a blanket courtesy of UC Davis Health. And at the close of the regular season in October, UC Davis Health will help the club celebrate Fan Appreciation Night with additional giveaways, contests and more to thank gameday guests for their steadfast support.
United to promote community health and wellness, Republic FC and UC Davis Health plan to bring awareness to various medical issues, as well as find opportunities to encourage healthy habits. The two organizations will come together during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and Breast Health Awareness Month to share inspiring stories, as well as support patients and their families, and provide potentially life-changing information.
In an effort to help UC Davis Health’s younger patients, Republic FC and the health system’s doctors will work to increase play and fun outdoor activities. In addition to surprise visits from players, Republic FC gift bags, and match tickets, UC Davis Health doctors will have an additional tool to help with patient care. Young patients will have access to Republic FC’s library of training videos and PE classes – and can show off their new skills at a regional camp or clinic. Focusing on the next generation of soccer players in the region, UC Davis Children’s Hospital will be featured on the club’s youth development academy jersey.
The 9th season will kick off tomorrow, Saturday, March 12 at Heart Health Park when Republic FC hosts El Paso Locomotive FC.
