The Latest – Republic FC
The Indomitable Club returns to Heart Health Park on a high after claiming a road win of the season over a strong Detroit City FC squad. The victory was full-squad effort, and perhaps the club’s best collective showing of the year. Three Sacramento players earned a selection to the league’s Team of the Week for Week 14, and they issued Detroit their only home loss of the season. Scores by Damia Viader and Keko gave Sacramento all the advantage the club would need as the backline logged its second straight clean sheet.
Should Republic FC claim a win or draw in the contest, it will extend the club’s home unbeaten streak to 11 matches – one short of the club record of 12 set in 2014. It’s certainly an accomplishment within reach as Sacramento enters the match on a streak of two clean sheets, and unbeaten since May 18 at El Paso Locomotive FC.
Opponent Report
As always, it’s expected that Los Dos will play the Indomitable Club tough. They’ve remained dangerous up front, maintaining some of their best attackers from last season in Preston Judd and Daniel Aguirre. They’ve struggled on defense this season, allowing their goalkeepers to face 84 shots on target entering Wednesday and conceding the 4th most scores in the entire league.
The club enters on a high after taking down Monterey Bay FC at home. Leading the charge was forward Preston Judd, who netted a hat trick before the hour mark had passed thrusting himself into the golden boot conversation. Creating the chances for Judd was fellow forward Hamza Barry, who assisted Judd’s opening score, as well as his third in the 53rd minute.
Head to Head History
Saturday marks the 26th all-time meeting between Republic FC and LA Galaxy II. The results have historically favored Sacramento, who boasts 11 wins in the fixture. The two clubs were fairly even last season, finishing with a win apiece and two draws between them in four meetings.
Historically, the team playing on the road has had more success, claiming a win 12 times and outscoring the host 44-30. In 2021, each club’s win came on enemy grounds, and since the start of the 2018 season just two wins for either squad have come on home turf.
