Republic FC – The Latest
Sacramento takes to Arizona looking to rebound and return to form. The Indomitable Club has recorded two losses and a draw since starting July, with a busy June making for tired legs and some tough luck going against them. The club showed well against Birmingham Legion FC last week, but an early score made for an uphill climb over the majority of the match.
Even amidst their recent results, thereare reminders of the caliber of the squad. The last few weeks have seen forward Maalique Foster shine up top, with the Jamaican tallying 4 shots, 1 goal, and 7 chances created in the last two matches. Last week’s contest saw also Conor Donovan return to the starting XI after two weeks out with injury, logging 65 minutes with no setbacks.
Opponent Report
Rising FC enters Saturday’s match looking to turn around some tough times. Since their Open Cup loss to Sacramento on May 11th, they’ve registered seven defeats and claimed just four points in total. A few strong opponents have been on the other end during that stretch, notably Tampa Bay, El Paso, Birmingham and Eastern Conference leader Memphis. That streak doesn’t make the club any less dangerous, however, as their squad still possesses some faces who have hurt Sacramento in the past. Aodhan Quinn, Santi Moar, and Arturo Rodriguez remain on the club’s roster and have been among their top performers this season.
Head to Head
Saturday’s match will be the 21st meeting between the two clubs. The all-time fixture is nearly even, with Sacramento taking seven contests, Phoenix taking six and the pair splitting points seven times. Their last matchup – the Open Cup Round of 32 in May – went Sacramento’s way. The victory for Republic FC was their first in the fixture since 2018, with Luis Felipe and Douglas Martinez finding net.
