Following a tough road defeat, Republic FC returns home for a mid-week fixture looking to get back into the win column. The opponent ahead of them – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC – will be looking to do the same, and fend off another Western Conference challenger looking to climb higher in the table as the playoff race gets tighter.

The Latest – Republic FC
The trip to Seaside last Saturday marked the end of Sacramento’s five match unbeaten streak. A 14th minute set piece score from Monterey Bay went down as the only goal of the contest. Despite being shut out, Sacramento continued to generate opportunities, but it just wasn’t enough for the club to break through and grab another come-from-behind point.
Mark Briggs’ Men will be hungry for a win against an opponent that bested them earlier in the season. Back at home, Wednesday provides an opportunity to bounce back and regain some crucial confidence against a strong squad. There’s still a lot of room to move up in the table, especially with Republic FC just a few points back of Switchbacks FC in third place.
Opponent Report
Although Colorado Springs hasn’t registered a win since July 15, the club has remained one of the most dangerous in the league. The Rocky Mountain club has inched slowly closer to full strength in recent weeks, welcoming back key depth pieces to supplement their starting XI. They enter the match second in scoring and one of just two clubs with 50 goals on the year.
Forwards Hadji Barry, Michee Ngalina, and Elvis Amoh have been near locks to find the net in recent weeks, even if luck hasn’t gone the club’s way. The trio has scored 12 of the clubs last 14 goals – a span of six contests. Barry has been the main catalyst throughout that span with five scores, and in fact, Colorado Springs has been shut out in each of the last five games the Guniean hasn’t found the net.
Head to Head
Wednesday is the second meeting on the schedule between the two clubs this season, and the 11th all time. Colorado Springs took a 3-0 victory over Sacramento earlier this year on July 1 after Republic FC’s historic win in LA and come-from-behind victory at Monterey Bay.
The all-time fixture is dead even, with each club winning four times and splitting points twice. The scoring balance is separated by just one, with Sacramento netting 13 goals and Switchbacks’ netting 12. At Heart Health Park, Sacramento’s taken two wins, one draw, and one loss.
