Sacramento, Calif. – Starting this week, Indomitable partners Republic FC and AARP Sacramento will collaborate on a new program focused on highlighting and honoring people who are working to make their community a better place. AARP Community Heroes will launch today and call on the Greater Sacramento area to nominate those who are performing selfless acts of kindness and service and deserve to be celebrated. Nominations are open now through September 4 at SacRepublicFC.com/AARP.
“Everyday heroes are such an important part of our community and we want to make sure they get the recognition they deserve,” said Republic FC President and General Manager Todd Dunivant. “We’re excited to team up with our partners at AARP Sacramento to shed a light on all the inspiring work that is happening in the region.”
“Republic FC’s passion for positively impacting their community is reflected by their fans and supporters across the region every day,” said Dawn Angelo, AARP Sacramento Regional Director. “Sacramentans of all ages and from all walks of life do so much for those around them, and we hope that by recognizing their selflessness and dedication we can promote the creation of more community good in the future.”
Now through September 4, fans and community members can nominate a Community Hero at SacRepublicFC.com/AARP. Nominators are encouraged to share the story of someone who is making a difference in the community and whose work, project, service, or volunteer efforts serve as an example of the Indomitable spirit of our region. Whether someone has volunteered to help a group in need, or provided assistance to an individual or organization, Republic FC and AARP want to hear about their work and the impact it made. Nominees must be at least 18 years old and reside in the Greater Sacramento Area.
The winner will be selected by a joint panel from Republic FC and AARP Sacramento. The club will honor the winner on the pitch at Heart Health Park during the club’s October 15 home match, as well as with a special VIP match day experience and other Republic FC team gear and an AARP swag bag. The club and AARP Sacramento will also highlight the Community Hero’s work with content on its website and social channels.
Republic FC returns to the pitch this Wednesday, welcoming Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC to Heart Health Park. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m., and the match will be broadcast live on Antenna TV 40.2, FOX40.com and the FOX40 App, and streaming on ESPN+. Tickets are available at SacRepublicFC.com/single-match-tickets.
