This Saturday, Republic FC celebrates the region’s students with College Night as the club takes on Oakland Roots SC in the final NorCal derby between the two clubs this season. As Sacramento State prepares to welcome students back to campus on August 29, The Hornets are going all-out to help the Indomitable club get their first-ever win over their Bay Area foes at Heart Health Park.
At the match, fans and students alike can take in a special evening of entertainment, which will feature the Sacramento State cheerleading squad, dance team, marching band, and other student and faculty groups. Students, faculty, and alumni can get discounted tickets to the match as well as an exclusive Republic FC x Sacramento State co-branded scarf. The special ticket package can be purchased at SacRepublicFC.com/SacState.
University President Robert S. Nelson will be in attendance and will be honored as the Captain of the Match ahead of kickoff. The Hornet’s Men’s Soccer team, which plays their first home match of the season the following day, will also be present to help cheer on the Indomitable Club. At halftime, the Sacramento State Marching Band, Cheerleading squad, and Dance Team will group for a special performance on the pitch, and also help keep the club’s supporters loud and rowdy throughout the night.
Kickoff for the match at Heart Health Park is set for 8:00 p.m. It’s the last chance for Republic FC fans to catch the Indomitable Club at home before they hit the road for two big contests – a road meeting with Eastern Conference leader Louisville City on September 3, and the U.S. Open Cup Final in Orlando, Florida on September 7. Students, faculty, and alumni can get their tickets at SacRepublicFC.com/SacState, with single-match tickets available at SacRepublicFC.com/single-match-tickets.
