Another Republic FC academy player is getting an opportunity to chase his dream, thanks to a unique partnership. Earlier this year, the Indomitable Club and the B&B AIM Foundation awarded U17 academy player Carlos Maldonado with a scholarship to support his development on and off the pitch.
The B&B AIM Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to providing families and children the funding to chase their dreams. Since 2017, their community-focused work has contributed thousands to local families and their children, who otherwise wouldn’t have the resources to pursue beneficial opportunities. Through this partnership with Republic FC, young players who may not have the opportunity to access the region’s best coaches and a potential pathway to the pro ranks have new doors opened, as well as various opportunities to support their growth as players and individuals.
“This scholarship is a game-changer for Carlos and his family,” said Director Eder Quintanilla. “He is very deserving of this opportunity and we’re grateful to the B & B Aim Foundation for partnering with us to support the development of our academy players.”
The grant not only helps the Maldonado family cover some important costs – such as registration fees, travel, and equipment – but it also allows Carlos to take advantage of the club’s host family program. This is a vital part of the scholarship, as it has allowed Carlos to become a more integral part of the club. A Visalia-native, Maldonado was previously only able to travel to Sacramento to train with his team once a week – a seven hour round trip drive. Now that he lives in the region, Carlos is able to train every day and participate in more team activities on and off the field.
“Receiving the scholarship means to me that now I’m able to pursue my dreams without having to worry about my financial situation,” said Maldonado. “I want to send a big thank you to the B&B AIM Foundation for believing in and helping me achieve my goals. I’m super grateful blessed to be a part of this academy.”
This is the second year that the partners have teamed up to provide a scholarship for an academy player, with Maldonado’s teammate Alex Cruz receiving the grant last season.
