A six-match slate awaits Sacramento Republic FC’s youth academy squads this weekend, as they combine to take on a trio of Bay Area clubs. After a weekend out of action, the U13s and U14s will each get back on the pitch for league contests, while the U15 and U17 sides will look to fine tune heading into contests against a pair of MLS-affiliated opponents.
The Results: Republic FC v De Anza Force
Against De Anza on October 30, Sacramento’s U17 squad fell 4-2, their second straight defeat after falling to San Jose Earthquakes last week. A valiant effort in the second half to fight back saw the club pull to within one score, but the hosts found the net a moment later to put the match away.
Another two-score performance from Chance Cowell led the way for the U15 side, who bested Force 4-1. The performance brought the forward’s season total to 11 on the season, including a four-score game on October 9 against San Francisco Glens. The result was the U15 squad’s seventh straight without a loss dating to September 24.
What’s Coming Up
The next few weeks are loaded with important action for nearly every squad. This coming weekend, all four teams take the pitch, with the U15s and U17s taking on Silicon Valley Soccer Academy. It’s the older squads’ final tune-up before a big trip to Salt Lake City, where they’ll face off with their counterparts from Real Salt Lake in Herriman, Utah. Last season, Sacramento’s U15’s bested RSL 5-1 on February 26.
The U13 and U14 sides are set for a double match-week against FC Bay Area and Sheriff’s FC. After a weekend of rest, each side is poised to continue their dominant starts to the season – and a lot is on the line. Each team currently sits tied at the top of their respective division in league play with their counterparts from San Jose Earthquakes. The U13 side remains one of just five teams in their age group nationwide with a perfect record – meaning no points dropped by loss or draw – alongside Atlanta United, Inter Miami FC, St. Louis Scott Gallagher, and Philadelphia Union.
