On May 1 and 2, Republic FC’s Academy will host an opportunity for talented young players to earn a spot in the region’s top youth development program. The club will host two days of tryout sessions for players interested in joining the club’s youth development academy teams for the 2023-24 season.
Players from each age group will have an opportunity to showcase their skills with Republic FC’s coaching and talent identification staff. Tryouts will take place on both days from 5:00PM to 9:00PM for players born in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, & 2012. All sessions will be held at Mather Sports Complex. Registration is now open at SacRepublicFC.com/academy.
Republic FC’s youth development system offers the region’s only youth-to-pro pathway. Academy players can rise through the ranks and earn opportunities to train and compete with the club’s first team, and potentially earn a pro contract. The club’s youth squads compete at the highest level of youth soccer in North America – MLS NEXT – providing access to the best competition and the top player development platform in the United States and Canada.
Since the Academy’s inception in 2015, 28 players have earned a first team opportunity, signed a pro contract or joining the first team on USL Academy contracts – which allow youth players to compete and train with the first team while maintaining college eligibility. 19 have signed professional contracts, and over 70 have gone on to feature for intercollegiate programs across the nation, including at the NCAA Division I level. Just this year, 11 Republic FC Academy players have participated in Youth National Team Programs, including ID Camps and YNT Call-ups. During the 2022 USL Championship season, eight players developed through the club’s youth academy logged minutes with the first team as professionals or on academy contracts.
