Home action for Sacramento’s U-13 and U-14 Academy squads resulted in two big wins Sunday as the club hosted Silicon Valley SA at Cosumnes River College. The results secured the U-13’s their fifth straight victory to stay atop the Northwest Division, and the U-14’s their ninth straight to remain just three points back of the top spot.

The U-14s kicked off the day with a 7-0 clean sheet win. Right-back Maximo Giovancchini and forward Rylan Hashimoto each netted braces for their team in the 7-0 win. Midfielder Julian Nunez Corona’s half-volley opened the scoring in the 13th minute after he struck a loose ball at the edge of the 18-yard box and passed the goal line. Additional scores from Da’vian Kimbrough and Sean Hanafee saw five different players get on the scoresheet, before the final whistle sounded.
The U-13s’ match also saw five different players get on the scoresheet. Both squads found the net before 20 minutes went by, with Sacramento’s Harrison Boyce putting the ball in the net in the 5th minute and Silicon Valley following in the 16th. After David Quintanilla scored in the 33rd minute, Jonah Douhab’s goal four minutes later in the 37th was declared the match-winner. The visitors got one back in the second half, but it wouldn’t be enough to come back.
Looking Ahead
All four Academy squads will have a week off from competition before another set of fixtures against Bay Area foes. On April 15 and 16, the U-15s and U-17s face De Anza Force and SVSA. The U-13s and U-14s host the San Jose Earthquakes on the 16th with first place on the line. Each squad will have to close out their seasons on a high note to earn a coveted MLS NEXT Cup berth
