Ahead of Republic FC’s Salute to Service Night on July 1 presented by FOX40, the club is inviting fans to support the military community—as well as a veteran-owned business—with a special volunteer project.
On Wednesday, May 17, a team of volunteers including fans, partners, and front office employees will team up with Operation: Care and Comfort (OCC) to assemble care packages to support units of deployed U.S. military service members. In addition to toiletries donated by Indomitable Partners Delta Dental and Courtyard by Marriott Sacramento Cal Expo, the packages will be stuffed with plenty of Republic FC gear, snacks, activities (such as coloring books and crossword puzzles), and more.
Volunteers will meet at At Ease Brewing (1825 I St) at 6:00 p.m. to begin assembling packages, before tuning in as Republic FC takes on Orange County SC in Southern California at 7:00 p.m. All volunteers can enjoy a free beer – on the club! Limited volunteer shifts are available – fans are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. And even if all of the volunteer spaces are filled, supporters can still come at 7:00 p.m. to watch the game on the outdoor patio.
At Ease is a Veteran- and family-owned and operated brewery in midtown and a great partner of Republic FC. Opened in 2019 by Mike Conrad, a retired Army Colonel, the brewery features a wide range of craft brews – including various IPAs, sours, and even a hard seltzer – as well as a unique design with touches of vintage military style. At Ease can also be found at Republic FC home matches at the new Craft Brew Bar.
OCC was established in 2003 and supports American troops in a variety of ways: writing letters, mailing care packages, helping with welcome home events, and showing support for a deployed service member or Veteran’s family. To date, over a million pounds of care packages have been packed and mailed by OCC. To learn more, visit OCC-USA.org.
Later this season, Republic FC will host Salute to Service Night presented by FOX40, when the club faces off with Rio Grande Valley FC Toros at Heart Health Park.
