Republic FC is continuing its Pride month celebration this Saturday, hosting the annual Pride Night match at Heart Health Park! During the game, fans can purchase this year’s limited-edition Pride scarf – or purchase a ticket + scarf combo package – to show their Pride all year long.
From special messages and words of inclusivity, to nods to popular Republic FC kits, here are all the details and inspirations behind this year’s Pride merchandise capsule according to artist Nathanios Strimpopulos.
“I learned into angled lines to show movement and action,” said Strimpopulos. As for the exact angle of the rainbow-colored lines: it’s precisely at 38.58 degrees, a nod to Republic FC’s City of Trees kit that featured the coordinates for Sacramento’s City Hall. 
The scarf and shirt feature inspiring words including respect, happiness, dignity, compassion, joy, and self-expression. “All of these words and all that they signify are universal to everyone, and we all deserve them. And that really is what binds us all together, because we all want love, kindness, and respect.” 
Each end of the scarf features 10 stripes in honor of Republic FC’s 10th season celebration. 
The typography was meticulously designed with equality in mind. “I created letter forms that had no ‘eyes’ or ‘counters’ (the gaps inside letters like A, B, O) so that all letterforms are one shape to signify unity.” 
The word Indomitable not only represents one of Republic FC’s core values, but also celebrates the club’s bold future. “I gave the letters a stronger presence to match the energy and vitality of SRFC. I also wanted to use bright colors, so I started with the club’s new Resilient Red and built the rainbow colors around that.”
