On Sunday, Republic FC returns home to face off with Las Vegas Lights FC on Youth Soccer Day at Heart Health Park. Throughout the match – slated for a special 4:00 p.m. kickoff – the club will recognize the region’s tremendous youth soccer community as it looks to secure a home playoff match in the first round of the 2023 USL Championship playoffs.
Hundreds of players from local clubs – from Galt to Lincoln, El Dorado Hills, Sacramento and more – will be in attendance for the match. The region’s young athletes will be the focus throughout the afternoon throughout the stadium. The match regularly draws some of the club’s best crowds of the season, and this year will be no different.
Ahead of the match, a special kid-Emcee will join Republic FC’s Connor Sutton on the mic to pump up the crowd before the huge game. On the video board, Republic FC players will look back on their youth soccer days. The afternoon’s biggest event – a youth player parade of nearly 30 different youth soccer groups representing organizations from across the region – will take place during warm-ups on the pitch, allowing youngsters to walk the field the pros play on and showcasing the incredible youth soccer community in the Sacramento region and surrounding communities.
In addition, youth soccer players in attendance can get a special promotion at the Mission Tiger Kids Zone – the place to play for youth players on matchday at Heart Health Park. The first 100 youth players wearing their youth club jersey to the Kids Zone at the match will receive a voucher for a free pint of Ice Cream courtesy of Indomitable Partner Crystal Creamery, redeemable at the match. Crystal is the presenting partner of the club’s Youth Club Partner program, which helps the club connect with players and coaches, and help grow the game in local communities. Earlier this month, Republic FC honored coach Angus Chang from Land Park Soccer Club – one of the club’s Youth Club Partners – for his contributions to his club early in the youth season in August.
Kickoff for Sunday’s match is set for 4:00 p.m., and tickets are still available at SacRepublicFC.com/tickets. Following the final whistle, fans can get a special team poster as they exit – or stick around to watch Republic FC’s Special Olympics Unified Team take on the San Jose Earthquakes in its first-ever match.
