After consecutive wins, the Indomitable Club returns home this week for the regular season finale. The 2023 campaign’s 34th match brings Eastern Conference side Miami FC to Heart Health Park for the two club’s first-ever meeting.
Sacramento has claimed the top spot in the Western Conference ahead of the contest – however, there is still plenty to play for. The club can still secure second overall in the league. Miami FC won’t make things easy, as the South Florida club needs a win to secure their spot in the postseason.
“We want to close out the season in the rhythm we have been in over the last few games,” said Head Coach Mark Briggs. “And continue with the positive results in front of our fans, and try and end the season on a on a real positive note.”
Republic FC enters the final contest of the season in good form. The club has claimed two straight victories – one against Las Vegas Lights FC and another in come-from behind fashion against Rio Grande Valley. It will benefit the club moving forward in the most important part of the season – the four-game postseason tournament that still lies ahead.
“On Saturday, we’ll enjoy what we’ve done, put on a good performance and hopefully get another three points,” Briggs continued. “I want to challenge the guys for a complete performance in that last game to give us more even more positivity leading into the playoffs.”
“It’s gonna be a tough game,” said Nick Ross. “We know they’re playing for a lot – they’re playing for a playoff spot and we’re playing for a lot as well we want to finish second overall. So we’re expecting a good game, a tough game and in front of a sellout crowd it should be a good day.”
Saturday’s match is expected to be accompanied by an incredible atmosphere with a sellout crowd on hand at Heart Health Park. The club will be saluting its fans all night for their incredible support – who have all season pushed the squad to another level. Sacramento has held at least a share of first place for all but one week this season.
“The guys have been absolutely incredible to finish first in the Western Conference, which is really strong,” Briggs said of his squad’s consistency. “To be able to end the season on Saturday in front of our fans, hopefully they can celebrate and they can appreciate the work that the guys have put in.”
