With the holiday season in full swing, Republic FC and Indomitable Partner Delta Dental once again joined forces for an afternoon of holiday festivities at the Mather Veteran’s Village. With the assistance of volunteers from both organizations, residents put their crafting skills to the test, making ornaments for their trees, decorating cookies, and creating greeting cards. A few folks even got some help wrapping gifts for loved ones.
Mather’s Veteran Village is a development of Mercy Housing California that provides safe, quality, low-income housing and affordable resident services for those in need. It provides 50 permanent supportive homes for formerly homeless and disabled Veterans, with comprehensive on-site support services such as health screenings, school supplies for children, job training, and more.
The gathering marked the second collaboration between partners this year that has focused on supporting Veterans. In May, over 20 volunteers – Republic FC employees and fans, along with Delta Dental staff – gathered at Veteran-owned brewery At Ease to assemble kits with toiletries, Republic FC gear, snacks, and activities. The supplies were later distributed by Operation: Care and Comfort, an organization that has packed and mailed over a million pounds of care packages for American troops.
Delta Dental is a purpose-driven organization with a legacy of philanthropy throughout its 65-year history. In 2022, the company’s Community Care Foundation donated $27 million to a wide range of causes and initiatives, ranging from affordable health care to social justice and disaster relief. Locally, the Sacramento chapter of the foundation supported dozens of non-profits – including the Sacramento County Food Bank & Family Services, Sacramento LGBT Community Center, and La Familia Counseling Center.
