Republic FC’s youth squads continued their strong second half this past weekend as they welcomed a pair of Bay Area foes to Cosumnes River College. The Academy’s sixth straight unbeaten slate resulted in six wins out of eight matches. The club’s youth sides outscored their foes 24-8 for the weekend.

The U16s swept their weekend slate, securing their second and third straight wins to extend their unbeaten run in league play to 18 games. After winning Saturday, a Sunday victory in come-from-behind fashion capped off the weekend on a high. Two scores by Luka Rosic and Jayden Fitzgerald in the 70th and 73rd minute erased an early deficit. Scores from four different players led the U17 side to its seventh straight win since returning from the winter break, while the U15s secured three points Saturday with a comeback victory of their own. Brayden Vu and Salem Chandler each scored with less than 20 minutes to go after Diablo Valley got on the board early.
The U14 and U13 squads also claimed points in both contests. An avalanche of goals Saturday led the U13s to an 8-0 victory, before the U14s split points 2-2. The U14s Sunday win was led by a brace from Jonah Douhab, who scored in the 20th and 79th minute as his squad downed Woodside 4-2.
Squad Spotlight
Republic FC’s U17 side has been in tremendous form since resuming league play in January. The squad has recorded seven consecutive victories including a strong win over their counterparts from Vancouver Whitecaps FC on February 4. Their streak includes five clean sheet wins and a scoring differential of 18 goals scored to just three goals conceded. Next week, the U17s take on Diablo Valley on Saturday, and Napa United on Sunday in another full slate of games for the club’s academy squads.
