In another weekend of MLS Next play, Republic FC’s Academy squads were on the pitch battling for the top spot in the standings. With seven scheduled fixtures, the young quails came out victorious six times, including five clean sheet wins.

On Saturday, the U13s and U14s traveled south to take on Albion Merced SC for their second meeting of the season. The U14s earned a 4-1 victory while the U13s were dropped points for the first time this season after 23 matches unbeaten.
Sunday’s slate of games featured all five squads competing at home, claiming 5-of-5 wins on the day and not conceding a single goal. Four of five contests resulted in 3-0 victories, before the U13s capped off the day with an 8-0 win. The U16 and U17 squads each claimed three points against San Francisco Glens as three different players netted scores for each team in the second half. A brace from Salem Chandler and an additional score by Sean Hanafee lifted the U15 squad to victory, while the U14s found a winner in the first half, and two additional scores in the second against Sheriffs FC.
After a defeat on Saturday, the U13 bounced back against Sheriffs FC Sunday as they netted eight scores. Diego Carrillo, Levi Chandler and Jayden Staines each scored a brace in their squad’s win.
Squad Spotlight
Since the second half of the season began in January, Republic FC’s U15 squad has been among the best in the country. Across 11 games, they’ve recorded 11 wins while conceding only two scores in that span and recording nine clean sheets. Sunday’s victory vs. SF Glens marked the fourth consecutive shutout performance for the U15 side – a stretch that has seen them score 25 unanswered goals.
