After a successful first week of training camp – presented by Western Health Advantage, the boys in Old Glory Red hit the pitch in week two as the club’s first scrimmage of the season grows nearer.
The Republic FC Academy has always been a crucial piece of the club’s success which is on display as much now as ever with three Academy products on the first-team roster. Alongside the three products, six academy players have been called into training camp as a benefactor for their hard work.
Giovanni Ceja (Midfielder), Emmanuel Johnson (Forward), Erik Centeno (Wingback), Fernando Venegas (Centerback), Jesus Sanchez (Goalkeeper), and Ulises Esquivel (Centerback) have all been in training camp with the first team the past two weeks gaining experience with the club’s top players.
“It’s been a process that starts mine and Dennis’s communication,” Head Coach Mark Briggs says, “This is reward for the hard work, the good work that they have put in.”

While the boys in Old Glory Red might not be playing for 3 points, they are looking to get players minutes to increase their fitness as the beginning of the USL Championship season nears.
With a mix of new faces on the squad this year and returning players for 2021, these minutes are crucial as Republic FC focus on getting into top form before the whistle sounds to begin the regular season on April 30th against LA Galaxy. And just before that season opener, fans will have their first chance to see the boys in Old Glory Red on April 24.

“Coming into preseason, you have to give it your all and you have to show the staff and coaches the work you’ve put in in the offseason,” Bone says. “When you come in with that base, you just build off that so when you head into your first game you get the result that you want.”

The Welcome Back Kit each complete with school supplies, some Republic FC gear, and a letter from President Todd Dunivant – to wish all the students well as they come back to school sites.
