Saturday, March 6 will kick off the eighth annual SRFC Open Tryouts with the genuine shot for players to impress members of the Republic FC technical staff and earn a spot on the 2021 training camp roster.
Safety is at the upmost importance this year, and Republic FC will provide a safe setting for hopeful players looking to join the club. This year’s tryouts will be different, limiting the number of players in drills and matches to ensure the safety of all who participate. In addition to on-site protocols – all players must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test. The club will continue to abide by all applicable local health guidelines to ensure the safety of our players and of our community. Additional information about the health and safety protocols in place, will be communicated and given to all participants after registration.
Registration is now open and information on signing up can be found on the club’s website.
Open tryouts will take place on Saturday, March 6 and Sunday, March 7 at the Mather Sports Complex. Players much be 18+ years of age and are encouraged to submit their registration forms as soon as possible.
Every year Sacramento has hosted its open tryouts, the Indomitable Club has welcomed at least one player to training camp. Last year, Ashkanov Apollon earned a training camp invite and eventually a contract with the first team. He featured in a dozen league fixtures for Mark Briggs’ men in 2020. In the last three years, a total of five players have been selected to join the squad’s training camp.
Like Ash, other former SRFC players that made their way to the team via the open tryouts have included Emrah Klimenta, Max Alvarez, Elliot Hord and Mackenzie Pridham.
