
Sacramento Republic FC defender James Kiffe has been named to the USL All-League Second Team for the 2017 USL season. Kiffe played every minute of Republic FC’s 2017 regular season and postseason, recording 3,090 total minutes.
This season, Kiffe broke the 100-appearance mark played with Republic FC on Sept. 2 against Colorado Switchbacks FC, becoming only the second player to achieve this feat, along with fellow defender Emrah Klimenta. He also made his 100th career start for Republic FC on Sept. 30 against Phoenix Rising FC.
Kiffe held 61 key passes and 64 interceptions this season. The 28-year-old defender recorded a career-high six assists in the regular season and held a 75.6 percent tackle success rate and 79.5 percent pass success rate, completing 1,189 successful passes. The defender also scored one of the penalty kicks during Republic FC’s Western Conference Quarterfinals penalty shootout against Real Monarchs that helped the club advance to the conference semifinals.

Kiffe is also second all-time in club history in USL starts with 85, all-competition starts with 105, as well as USL minutes (7,521) and all-competition minutes (9,234).
The Santa Barbara native currently holds the club record for most consecutive USL starts with 39 and is third all-time in USL assists, recording 12 in his time with the club, and fourth all-time in all-competition assists with 15.
Kiffe is the only Republic FC player to be recognized this season in either of the USL All-League team. He joins Danny Barrera (First Team) and Cameron Iwasa (Second Team) who were recognized in the 2016 season, Mickey Daly (Second Team), Nemanja Vuković (Second Team) and Rodrigo Lopez (Second Team) in the 2015 season and Nemanja Vuković (First Team/Defender of the Year) and Rodrigo Lopez (First Team) in 2014.
