Two straight wins give Republic FC a full head of steam heading into their next match – a road meeting with Western Conference leader San Antonio FC. Sacramento already bested the Texas club once this season, but this contest will have a bit more on the line with the playoffs drawing closer and the match taking place in unfamiliar territory.

Republic FC – The Latest
Sacramento bested in-state foe Orange County on national television on Sunday, posting four goals in the first half and recording their 14th clean sheet across all competitions. Maalique Foster netted a brace, Keko finished with two assists, and Rodrigo Lopez and Damia Viader each tallied a score and assist as the club remained relentless in the attacking half. Having now scored eight unanswered in their last two matches, Republic FC will be shooting to keep that attacking momentum going against a stingy defensive squad.
They’ll also be looking to again shrink their magic number for a playoff berth, which stands at four entering the contest. Sacramento can clinch a postseason spot with a victory, but a few specific results need to take place in other matches.
Know Your Opponent
San Antonio FC welcomes Sacramento to town for its fourth straight at home after a mid-week win over Colorado Springs. The result extended their unbeaten streak to four and brought their magic number to secure the top spot in the West down to one point.
The club has been the most steadily dominant in the league all season; no side has more than their 21 wins entering the match. As such, a spot in the playoffs is already locked up. That hasn’t stopped the squad from keeping their eyes on the prize, however, securing the top points tally in the league is still a possibility with a four-point advantage on Louisville City FC with four matches to go.
Head to Head
All time, Sacramento and San Antonio have faced off on nine occasions, with Republic FC claiming four wins and splitting points twice. The two sides haven’t faced off at Toyota Field since 2019 – a 3-2 result that stands as Sacramento’s only road win in the fixture. Earlier this season, Republic FC took a 1-0 victory over the Texas club at Heart Health Park.
