Republic FC defender Hayden Sargis has been selected for the USL Championship Team of the Week bench, coming off a strong performance against Portland Timbers 2, last Saturday night. The Republic FC Academy product led the Indomitable Club against T2 in clearances (7), touches (78), total passes (62) and won seven of 10 duels.
Sargis and his teammates along the backline have been nothing short of stellar over the last few weeks, having collected clean sheets in three of the last four fixtures and have not surrendered a goal in 199 consecutives minutes. The Turlock native – who has been a member of the SRFC Academy since its inception in 2015 – made his first team debut against FC Tulsa on March 7 after signing his first professional contract following a decorated academy career. This is Hayden’s first Team of the Week selection.
This is Republic FC’s third Team of the Week nomination this season, following Juan Barahona’s Week 1 bench selection and Dariusz Formella’s starting XI selection in the team’s return to play.
