SACRAMENTO, Calif. (August 3, 2018) — Sacramento Republic FC will look to keep their undefeated run going as they host Fresno FC for the first time in the rivalry’s history on Saturday, August 4. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Papa Murphy’s Park and the match will be broadcast live on KQCA My58, Estrella TV and ESPN+.
Saturday’s match will be the third and final time Republic FC and Fresno FC face off during the regular season. The Indomitable Club emerged victorious in their first-ever USL matchup thanks to Luis Espino’s lone goal, but the Foxes responded in their second encounter with a 2-0 win.
Republic FC (10-5-7, 37 points) enter the match on a four-match undefeated streak following a 1-1 draw at home to OKC Energy FC on July 21. Cameron Iwasa opened the scoring with his club-leading 10th goal of the season and 26th goal for Sacramento, which tied him with Rodrigo Lopez for the all-time all-competitions club scoring record.
Sacramento will also receive a boost heading into match with the return of Keven Aleman from injury. The Costa Rican midfielder has not played for the club since scoring the winning goal against Reno 1868 FC in the Third Round of the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, but will be available for selection on Saturday.
Fresno FC (7-7-9, 30 points) arrive in Sacramento after drawing 1-1 on the road to Tulsa Roughnecks FC, adding to a five-match undefeated that began the last time the Foxes faced off against Sacramento. Adding to the intrigue of the nascent rivalry will be the presence of former Republic FC players who now ply their trade for Fresno. Danny Barrera, Agustin Cazarez, Mickey Daly and Christian Chaney are all part of the Foxes’ roster and will be making their return to Sacramento for the first time since leaving the club.
